Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members
As we end our the school year, it is an ideal time to reflect on what has been an extraordinary year for our school community. The end-of-year celebrations have been truly exceptional - the finest I have had the privilege of experiencing in my career. The Year 6 Dinner was a remarkable evening, filled with joy and pride as we celebrated our students' growth and achievements while wishing them success in their next chapter. The Christmas Carols are simply marvellous, with all of our students playing their part in a wonderful community event.
The Presentation Assembly and Year 10 Farewell Assembly, both hosted by our talented students, were deeply meaningful and showcased the leadership, creativity, and heart that make our school so special. The Campbell Town community turned out in force to support our Year 10 students, creating an incredible atmosphere as they were welcomed back to school before their celebratory dinner at Brickendon. This event was a beautiful way to honour and farewell a cohort that has made a lasting impact on our school.
Academically, our students have excelled. In the recent PAT testing, we matched the state average in Mathematics and exceeded it in Reading - an achievement we are immensely proud of. These results are a testament to the hard work of our students and the outstanding dedication of our teaching staff. The quality of our staff is second to none. Their unwavering commitment to student success is evident in the daily learning opportunities they provide and the way they nurture the development of every student.
We are fortunate to have a team with such deep expertise and long-term commitment to our school. This year, we celebrated a significant milestone, honouring our Canteen Manager, Sharon Thomas, for 25 years of dedicated service to the students of Campbell Town. Sharon’s care and contributions embody the heart of our school community.
Looking ahead, I will begin a new role as Student Support Leader for the northern region at the end of January, a position I will hold for two terms. While I am excited about this opportunity, leaving this community is bittersweet. Mr David Bryant will serve as Acting Principal during this time. David has already impressed the school community with his energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to our vision. I have every confidence that he will lead the school with excellence and will be inspired by the remarkable character and abilities of our students, staff, and families.
Campbell Town District High School is a community filled with passionate educators, supportive families, and students who continually amaze me with their resilience, creativity, and kindness. I will miss this community tremendously.
As we wrap up the year, I want to thank each of you - students, staff, families, and community members - for your support, hard work, and dedication. I wish you all a joyful festive season and a safe, restful holiday break.
Regards
Mike
On Tuesday the 3rd of December the Grade 10 class visited the Prep classroom so that we could complete one of the most loved traditions in our school, the Grade 10 portraits. It was a pleasure to see the wonderful interactions between the oldest students in our school and some of the youngest students in our school. Once the portraits and photos were completed the Grade 10 students spent time with their Prep buddies reading, playing shops, building car ramps and some even participated in a phonics lesson lead by the Preps!
Thank you for a memorable morning Grade 10’s. We wish you all the best as you move on to your next adventure.

The reading priority at Campbell Town District High School continues to grow and evolve, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our amazing staff. This year, we are especially proud to shine a light on their commitment to equipping students with best practice strategies and skills through focused, explicit teaching. Our Primary staff have worked tirelessly to introduce a systematic synthetic phonics program across all Primary classes, ensuring every student builds a strong reading foundation. Primary and Secondary grades are taking exciting strides in improving fluency, with teachers intentionally teaching this important skill in daily lessons. We have continued to develop our tier two programs and are successfully running MiniLit Sage and MacqLit within our school. We are so proud of the progress our students are making in Literacy, and we are excited to see what 2025 holds for us.
